The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are not named in the top five smartphones in the world.
Last month, surveys from several UK and US carriers showed that the iPhone 7 was selling outperforming the iPhone 8. A recent report by market research firm Canalys reinforced this.
Canalys figures show that the iPhone 7 is the world’s best-selling smartphone in the third quarter, while the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are not in the top five.
Specifically, the iPhone 7 had sales of 13 million units in 3 months 7-9. iPhone 6S ranks second, but the difference is quite far with 7.9 million.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime has the third largest sales with 7.8 million units. The remaining two smartphones in the top five were Oppo A57 and Oppo R11 models with 7.7 and 7.2 million sales.
Canalys said the combined sales of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were 11.8 million units, 1.2 million lower than the iPhone 7.
Interestingly, the iPhone 8 Plus performed better with 6.3 million units sold, while the 4.7-inch model only sold 5.4 million units.
Reports from this company provide an optimistic signal to Apple when older models such as the iPhone 6S or SE all have sales increase in the third quarter. iPhone 7, meanwhile, saw sales rise sharply after a decline in September.
In the financial report last month, Apple said the policy of launching three smartphones at the same time is working.
Apple confirmed that the iPhone 8 became the most popular iPhone on sale.
However, sales of this model is only calculated in about 9 days while iPhone 7 or other models accumulated in three months.
